The 2 a.m. sale: selling Notion templates on Instagram while you sleep

A reel takes off at midnight and hundreds of people ask for the price. How to answer every one of them with a buy link, automatically.

Picture it. You spend a weekend building a study planner in Notion and another evening filming the reel. You post at seven, answer comments until one, and go to bed. At two, the reel reaches a new crowd and the comments start: price? link? how do I get this? Nobody answers until morning.

This guide is about that gap between someone asking and someone answering — and how to close it for Notion templates without staying up.

Why the morning reply doesn’t land

A comment asking for the price is interest at its peak. Minutes later that person is three reels further on. When your reply arrives the next day, it is competing with everything else in their inbox, about a video they have forgotten. Some will still buy. Many won’t, and you will never know which ones would have.

The fix is not to reply faster by hand. It is to have the reply — with the template and a way to pay — ready before the reel goes out.

Before you post: four things to prepare

  1. The product file. Notion templates are shared as a link, so make a one-page PDF with the template’s public “Duplicate” link and two or three lines on how to use it. That PDF is what the buyer receives.
  2. The price. Decide it now, not in the replies. Round numbers such as ₹199 or ₹299 are easy to take in at a glance.
  3. The keyword. One short word people will type exactly, for example PLANNER. Say it in the reel, repeat it in the caption, and pin a comment with it.
  4. The automation. In okan, choose the reel, set the keyword, and write two things: the short public reply (“Sent you a DM 💌”) and the DM with your product card.

Write a DM that sells

The DM is the whole shop, so it has four jobs:

  • Name the product, so they know they are in the right place.
  • Say the price plainly.
  • Say what they get: “the planner, plus a 5-minute setup video link”.
  • Give one action: tap Buy.
Hey! The Study Planner is ₹299 — the full Notion system plus a setup guide. Tap Buy and it’s yours 📚

What your buyer experiences

  1. They comment PLANNER and see your public reply under it.
  2. A DM arrives with the planner card: Buy ₹299 and Payment done.
  3. Buy opens a Razorpay checkout inside Instagram. They pay with UPI or card.
  4. They come back and tap Payment done. okan checks the payment arrived and sends the download link.
  5. They open the PDF, tap your Duplicate link, and the template is in their Notion.

The Payment done tap is there for a reason: Instagram lets a business reply privately to a comment once, and the buyer tapping a button is what allows the next message — the one with their file.

The next morning

Open your orders and you will see each sale with what was paid, Razorpay’s fee, okan’s fee and your share. Ask for a settlement whenever you like. Then look at which reel and keyword brought the most orders, and make more of that.

Checklist

  • PDF with the Duplicate link and setup notes, under 25 MB.
